Hello,
I have a strange issue I'm battling with at the moment.
I have two Redhat 6.2 templates lets call them min and max
If I convert the templates to VM's, boot them & test multicast its works fine. (Im testing multicast using omping(8): test IP multicast - Linux man page)
If I convert the VM's to templates & deploy two VM's from template multicast doesn't work????
The nic's work fine and the customisation script works as expected (defining an IP address, hostname, dns etc...) but muticast doesn't work.
IP tables is ruled out as the allow multicast rule is setup + I disabled during testing.
The /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules file is removed and the HWADDR & UUID is removed from the ifcfg-eth0 file on the template.
If I do a clean install of RH 6.2, add the iptables rule for Multicast, remove /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules & HWADDR & UUID from the ifcfg-eth0
Convert to template and deploy multicast works!
So its seems that how the original templates were created broke multicast somehow.
Anyone see this before and is there possible fix before I go getting the templates rebuild?
Thanks, Joe
