I'm running a script that builds a vSphere lab complete with vCenter and freeNAS storage within Fusion 5 on a Macbook (early 2011) that has 16GB of memory and a 480GB SSD. The first time I built this lab it worked except for being able to access it remotely, so I rebuilt it and now it fails when trying to create NFS and iSCSI datastores on the ESXi hosts. The problem is that the hosts can't see the LUNs on the freeNAS vm that provides storage, so the script fails when creating the datastores. Each host can ping it's own IP addresses within its VLAN, but can't ping the other host's IP address in the same VLAN. I can ping all IP addresses from the laptop's public connection, except the VLAN IP addresses. It seems that routing is failing to the VLAN IP addresses both from within and without the lab environment. I've tried to figure out the problem for three weeks to no avail. I am now on my seventh rebuild of the lab and am hoping somebody can figure this out before I start creating the datastores.
