Thanks for your patience.
I have researched this and found that a name buffer is being incorrectly handled between the Linux vmhgfs kernel module and the Linux kernel VFS layer.
It causes the name to partially corrupted depending on how the memory gets reused.
This causes the following of symlinks to either crash or just return the symlink details instead the contents of the link target.
I will try and get this fixed and into the earliest release I can. I will update here to let you know more.
